Who are we?
We are a partnership of:
- Residents of Lawrence Heights residents, and
- Staff who work at organizations serving Lawrence Heights.
We call ourselves the “BePART Research Steering Committee” and we are the decision-making body for the BePART project. At least 51% of the members in the committee must be residents, hopefully this percentage will grow even larger (e.g. 70%). The committee currently has 13 members. In order to join the committee, an individual must attend three partnership table meetings within a span of 3 months and then request membership, to be decided by the committee. Others may attend meetings without decision-making authority.
Who is supporting this initiative?
This project stems from the concerns and ideas voiced by Lawrence Heights residents regarding neighbourhood collaborations, especially in the context of revitalization planning. The project proposal was developed by members of the LHION Revitalization Workgroup in partnership with several residents active in revitalization concerns. The project is financially supported by the Wellesley Institute. Several organizations who are part of the LHION Revitalization Workgroup are also providing financial and staff supports.
